A rare ‘Panama’ wall lamp, designed by Wim Rietveld for Gispen in the 1950s. The lamp consists of a white lacquered aluminium lamp shade with the original diffuser and a swivel arm. The multiple joints in the arm create a flexible design that allows the user to choose the best possible position for the lamp. The red key used to adjust the position is missing, but this can also be done with a standard box spanner. Wim Rietveld, son of architect and designer Gerrit Rietveld, was talented at combining functionality and aesthetics due to his background in industrial design. The 'Panama' wall lamp is one of his most notable designs. The lamp remains in good condition with only slight traces of use.
