Robert Picault
Robert Picault (1919-2000) was a French ceramist who settled in Vallauris in the late 1940s. He is known for utilitarian and decorative ceramics, bowls, pitchers, plates and dishes, decorated with rhythmic graphic motifs, lines, grids and stylised figures, often in brown and ochre on a light ground. His production, made in his own workshop, is a signature of postwar Vallauris. Collectors seek signed pieces with crisp decoration.
