Gijs van der Sluis
Dutch designer Gijs van der Sluis worked in the 1950s and 1960s, designing furniture produced by his own firm, known for steel furniture. His armchairs, sofas and dining chairs pair slender tubular or bent steel frames with upholstered or wooden seats, in a light, functional style typical of Dutch postwar modernism. Collectors look for pieces with original frames and period upholstery, especially the lounge chairs and matching sets.
