Bas van Pelt

Dutch furniture designer active in Amsterdam in the 1930s and 1940s, closely associated with the My Home furnishing company. His work spans two registers: tubular steel cantilever chairs influenced by the Nieuwe Bouwen movement, and solid oak armchairs and dining chairs with woven rush or sisal panels. Collectors appreciate the honest construction and quiet proportions of these pieces, which reflect Dutch modernism at its most domestic.
