Paul T. Frankl
Austrian-born designer Paul T. Frankl (1886-1958) settled in the United States and became a leading voice of American modernism. His Skyscraper furniture of the 1920s, with stepped profiles inspired by New York towers, was followed by rattan pieces such as the Speed chair, cork-topped tables and designs for the Johnson Furniture Company. He also wrote on modern design. Collectors seek original Skyscraper pieces and documented Johnson designs.
