Oscar Niemeyer
Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer (1907-2012), designer of the major buildings of Brasília, also created furniture, largely with his daughter Anna Maria Niemeyer. Their pieces of the 1970s, including the Rio chaise longue (1978) and the Alta armchair and ottoman, translate the curves of his architecture into bent plywood, wood and leather. Collectors look for early editions from the 1970s and 1980s with original materials and documentation.
