Marcel Breuer
Hungarian-born architect and designer Marcel Breuer (1902-1981) trained at the Bauhaus, where he led the furniture workshop and created the tubular steel Wassily chair (1925) and the cantilevered Cesca chair (1928). After working in London with Isokon on plywood furniture, he moved to the United States, where he taught at Harvard and built major architecture. Collectors seek early tubular steel pieces by Thonet and Standard-Möbel and the Isokon plywood designs.
