Karl Hagenauer

Austrian designer (1898-1956) who trained at the Vienna Kunstgewerbeschule under Josef Hoffmann before joining the Werkstätte Hagenauer, founded by his father Carl. He gave the workshop its modern direction, with stylised figures, animals and objects in brass, bronze, wood and chrome, reduced to elegant silhouettes. Collectors seek pieces bearing the WHW mark, especially larger figures and lamps.
