Junzo Sakakura
Junzo Sakakura (1901-1969) was a Japanese architect who worked in Le Corbusier's Paris studio in the 1930s and designed the Japanese Pavilion for the 1937 Paris Exposition. Back in Japan, he maintained ties with Charlotte Perriand and designed furniture for manufacturers such as Tendo Mokko, including low lounge chairs in moulded plywood. Collectors value his furniture for its fusion of modernist principles with Japanese proportions.
