Jean-Michel Frank

Jean-Michel Frank (1895-1941) was a French interior decorator whose refined minimalism defined Parisian luxury between the wars. Working with the cabinetmaker Adolphe Chanaux, he used rare materials such as straw marquetry, parchment, shagreen and gypsum in pared-down forms. He collaborated with Alberto and Diego Giacometti, Christian Bérard and Salvador Dalí. Collectors seek pieces with firm provenance, as his original production is rare and often reproduced.
