Jean Marais

French actor Jean Marais (1913-1998), famous for his films with Jean Cocteau, was also a committed ceramicist, sculptor and painter. Later in life he worked extensively in Vallauris, the pottery town on the Riviera, producing vases, plates and sculptural pieces with expressive modelling and figurative themes. Collectors look for signed ceramics made in Vallauris, whose appeal lies in both their personal character and their link to a major figure of French cinema.
