Jacques Biny

French lighting designer Jacques Biny (1913-1976) founded the firm Luminalite in the 1950s and designed most of its lamps. His wall lights, table lamps and floor lamps use perforated metal, lacquered aluminium, brass and opaline glass, with articulated arms and carefully shaped reflectors. His work stands alongside that of Pierre Guariche and Serge Mouille in French postwar lighting. Collectors seek Luminalite editions with original paint and stamped marks.
