Ilmari Tapiovaara
Ilmari Tapiovaara (1914-1999) was a Finnish interior architect and designer who worked briefly with Le Corbusier and Alvar Aalto's circle before developing his own practice. His Domus chair of 1946, the Mademoiselle chair and the Pirkka series in solid pine and birch combine rational construction with a warm, rustic character. Collectors seek early production pieces with their original finish and manufacturer labels.
