Harry Bertoia

Harry Bertoia (1915-1978) was an Italian born American artist and designer, trained and later teaching at Cranbrook. His wire chairs for Knoll, including the Diamond chair of 1952, made his name, yet he devoted most of his career to sculpture: welded metal screens, spray and dandelion pieces, and his sound sculptures, the Sonambients. Collectors seek early Knoll production and, above all, his original sculptures.
