Frans Defour

Belgian designer Frans Defour worked in the 1970s for the family firm Defour, producing furniture with a strong graphic and sculptural character. His best-known pieces are sideboards and bar cabinets, such as the Sorente model, whose fronts are carved or composed in bold relief patterns, often in dark-stained or black finishes associated with Belgian brutalism. Collectors look for complete pieces with intact relief panels and original hardware.
