Branco & Preto
Branco & Preto was a São Paulo design shop founded in 1952 by a group of modernist architects, among them Miguel Forte, Jacob Ruchti, Plínio Croce, Roberto Aflalo, Carlos Millan and Chen Y Hwa. Until it closed around 1970 it produced furniture and lighting that joined Brazilian hardwoods, notably jacaranda, with caning, leather and fine upholstery. Collectors look for documented pieces in jacaranda, which remain among the most sought-after in Brazilian mid-century design.
