Ate van Apeldoorn
Dutch designer Ate van Apeldoorn worked with the workshop Houtwerk Hattem in the 1970s, producing furniture in solid oak with a strong, sculptural presence. His pieces, from dining tables and chairs to cabinets and benches, are built from heavy timbers with visible joinery and a softened, almost carved profile often associated with Dutch brutalism. Collectors look for original pieces from Hattem with a well-aged patina and the characteristic generous proportions of the period.
