André Arbus
André Arbus (1903-1969) was a French decorator, architect and sculptor from Toulouse, trained in his family's cabinetmaking workshop. He became a leading figure of the modern neoclassical style of the 1930s and 1940s, working with parchment, lacquer, fine veneers and gilt bronze, often in collaboration with the sculptor Vadim Androusov. He furnished embassies, ocean liners and official interiors. Collectors prize his pieces for their proportion, refined materials and discreet classical references.
