Aldo van den Nieuwelaar

Dutch designer Aldo van den Nieuwelaar (1944-2009) pursued a rigorous minimalism in line with the Dutch tradition descending from De Stijl. He is best known for his long collaboration with Pastoe, for which he designed pure, modular cabinets and cube systems, often in white lacquer, as well as lamps and objects of equal restraint. Collectors look for his early Pastoe pieces, where proportion and precise joinery carry the entire design.
