Abraham Palatnik
Abraham Palatnik (1928-2020) was a Brazilian artist and a pioneer of kinetic art. His Aparelhos Cinecromáticos, machines projecting slow shifts of coloured light, were shown at the first São Paulo Biennial in 1951. From the 1960s he developed the Progressões, rhythmic reliefs of cut and assembled wood veneers and later other materials. Collectors value his rigorous optical compositions, where precise craftsmanship and mathematical order produce a quiet sense of movement.
